Organisational Profile

Founded in 2000, CREA is a feminist human-rights organisation based in New Delhi, India. It is one of the few international women's rights organisations based in the global South, led by Southern feminists, which works at the grassroots, national, regional, and international levels. Together with partners from a diverse range of human rights movements and networks, CREA works to advance the rights of women and girls, and the sexual and reproductive freedoms of all people. CREA advocates for positive social change through national and international fora, and provides training and learning opportunities to global activists and leaders through its Institutes.

About CREA’s knowledge building and learning resources:

Since its inception, CREA has utilized the power of knowledge building to create information and analysis about relatively invisible and un-researched issues, amplify the voices and perspectives of those most marginalized by the mainstream discourse, build the leadership capacity of young feminist activists, facilitate dialogue and learning between our priority constituencies and the broader women’s and social justice movements, and build theory from practice from a Global South perspective.

A vast collection of reports, concept papers and books, training manuals and toolkits, teaching-learning materials, and media content are part of the learning and knowledge resources CREA has produced over the past 15 years, linked to our core themes of sexuality, gender, and rights and feminist leadership. We also produce original and translate existing learning resources into Hindi, particularly on issues of sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Moving forward, CREA wishes to sharpen its focus on knowledge building processes, rather than products or outputs alone. CREA also seeks to accelerate, systematize and better align its knowledge and learning resource activities with its other programmes, and to more effectively advance its key goals of building feminist leadership, advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights, raising the voice and visibility of marginalized women and trans people, and reducing gender based violence and enhancing wellbeing.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

•       Develop a strong knowledge building strategy, building on the existing one, and devise plans to organise, curate and better disseminate our learning resources, in consultation with key colleagues engaged in CREA’s capacity building, advocacy, communications, M&E and MIS work;
