Inspiring to Aspire: Encouraging Young Women to Seize Leadership Opportunities—An Open Forum

CREA organised 'Inspiring to Aspire: Encouraging Young Women to Seize Leadership Opportunities—An Open Forum' in collaboration with Women's Empowerment Link (WEL). It was attended by over 100 people from various organisations in Kenya, working on issues related to human rights, women's rights, and gender.

 

The Open Forum was convened with young and older leaders to discuss how to create and seize opportunities, face challenges, and mentor young women leaders in the political arena. The event was moderated by Grace Mbugua (Founder and Director, WEL). The speakers included Emmah Nungari (Country Director, ACORD Kenya), Pauline Owoko (Member of County Executive Committee, Nakuru County), Geetanjali Misra (Executive Director, CREA), Hon. Mshenga Mvita (Senator), Hon. Linah Jebii Kilimo (Former Member of Parliament), Hon. Sophia Abdi Noor (Former Member of Parliament), Hon. Zipporah Kittony (Senator), and Hon. Regina Nyeris (Woman Representative, West Pokot County).

 

The Open Forum was part of CREA's 'New Voices/New Leaders: Women Building Peace and Reshaping Democracy' initiative, which is supported by the Funding Leadership and Opportunities for Women (FLOW) Fund, Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
