Regional Feminist Leadership Institute on Peace and Security

The Leadership Institute on Peace and Security provided training to women human rights defenders and representatives of organisations working on women’s peace and security to use feminist leadership principles in their work. It was done in two regions:

1. Regional Feminist Leadership Institute on Peace and Security – South East Asia
2. Regional Feminist Leadership Institute on Peace and Security – East Africa

It aimed to create a cadre of leaders who would advance feminist principles and women’s rights in their ongoing work on peace and security. The institute provided opportunity for participants to learn about the concepts of feminist leadership and movement building, and linked these concepts to their practice on peace-building and security. The institute was held annually and brought together 25–30 people from the two key constituencies and addressed both contextual and operational gaps that existed within the current efforts and movement on women’s peace and security.
